HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect after a report that a 12-year-old girl was shot in the face by an intruder in the bedroom of a southwest Ohio home.
The shooting happened early Saturday in the Dayton suburb of Huber Heights. Officers said a man entered a home, approached two children in a bedroom, shot 1 of them in the jaw and then fled.
Authorities say the girl suffered a serious injury but was expected to recover. The second child wasn't hurt.
Police said it wasn't immediately clear how the man got into the home. The Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV report the girl's great-grandparents were at the house at the time.
A suspect was arrested Saturday night. Authorities have been withholding his identity while police and prosecutors consider possible charges.
