Boardman man arrested after allegedly firing gun while intoxicated

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A Boardman man is in police custody after allegedly firing a gun while intoxicated.

Police say that at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, officers were investigating a burglary report in the area of 784 Ridgefield Avenue when they heard a man shouting. Police say that they witnessed 61-year-old Dennis Villa fire a shot from his gun into the front yard of the home.

Police ordered Villa to the ground, took the gun and arrested him.

The  officer inspecting the firearm found a live 45 caliber hollow point round inside, and one spent shell casing on the ground.

The victim of the break-in told police that she told Villa about the burglary, and he called dispatch to complain about the police response time.

According the police report, Villa told the investigating officer that he had been drinking vodka.

Villa is charged with inducing panic and using weapons while intoxicated.
