Congressman Tim Ryan responds to the Valley being a potential missile defense site

Posted: Updated:

AKRON, Ohio - It was recently announced that the Mahoning Valley was on a list as a potential location for a missile defense site.

The Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center is one of five locations being considered for a missile interceptor deployment site.

At Monday's Defense Expo in Akron, 21 News spoke with Congressman Tim Ryan about any new developments on the matter and if there is a timetable for a decision.

"It's really at the top of the list now so we're just going to sit back and let them make their decision. At some point we may want some community support for it, but I think it shows how long and how far Ravenna has come," said Congressman Tim Ryan.

Ryan said he feels if Camp Ravenna is the chosen site, it will have a positive economic impact for the region.
