Valley students film festival highlights bullying and dating violence issues

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Students from some Valley high schools are being praised for their creativity and willingness to send a message about bullying and dating violence.

This Friends For Friends Film Festival was held Thursday night at Chaney's school of Visual and Performing Arts.

It included videos made by students from Chaney, Campbell, Jackson-Milton, Western-Reserve and two schools from the Cleveland area.

It's all part of an effort called " Operation Keepsake."

"If someone is being bullied or they're involved in an abusive dating relationship, if they tell anyone at all, they tell a friend. And so we decided we needed to get to the friend. And this is all about helping the friend," says Peggy Pecchio.

Awards were given out, from best writing to best acting among all the video entries.
