Boardman business reaches out to Niles funeral home victim

Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN, Ohio - A mother who shared her story with 21 News is receiving support from a local business.

Jaime Daley says she never received the monument that was purchased for her twin boys from McDermott Funeral Home in Niles. The funeral home is now closed and its former director is accused of allegedly stealing more than $150,000 from clients who thought they were investing money into pre-paid funeral contracts.

A Boardman couple saw her story and decided to find a way to help.

"Anybody losing a baby is something I can't even fathom," Cate Cope says.

Cope works for O.T. Beight & Sons in Boardman, which is now donating a monument to Daley and her family.

"I never expected this, but it just shows the generosity of others and I'm still in shock over it all," Daley says.

Daley lost her twins mid-pregnancy in 2012 and has been waiting ever since to properly mark their grave. She says she's grateful and the donation is an answer to her prayers that now gives her heart closure.
