YSU students among victims of north side robbery

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- Four people say they were robbed and beaten by a group of juveniles on Youngstown's north side.

The robbery occurred shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.

According to a police report, the victims said that they were standing behind a home at 1635 Fifth Avenue when a group of about five or six juveniles, all dressed in black clothing and their faces covered, began walking toward them.

The victims tell police that one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and ordered them to turn over everything they had on them.

During the robbery, two of the victims was punched in the head. One victim reports losing some teeth.

The suspects fled toward Crandall Avenue after taking nearly $500 and a pack of cigarettes.

A YSU text alert was sent out identifying some of the victims as YSU students; however the crime did not take place on campus.

No suspects have been identified in the robbery.
