Warrant issued for arrest of Youngstown mayoral candidate

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Police have been issued a warrant to pick up John Crea, an independent candidate running for Youngstown mayor.

Municipal Judge Robert Millich signed the warrant after learning that Crea had missed an appointment for a psychological evaluation and that Crea allegedly threatened to kill a man outside a Midlothian Boulevard apartment Monday night.

On Sunday, the reverend Lou Macklin of Holy Trinity church told 21 News that he ended his service early when he says Crea acted in a bizarre manner, causing alarm among members of the congregation.

Crea is on probation for aggravated menacing stemming from an incident outside city hall this month.

Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Green tells us Crea slapped a deputy while being finger printed at the jail.
