NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Village council has named Eugene Fixler as the new police chief.

Fixler leaves his position as chief as the nearby village of Windham.

Fixler says he always liked Newton Falls, ever since he first visited four years ago."I'm just amazed that here I am, four years later, the place that I believed was a neat place. I'm the police chief. I'm proud and excited to be here." said Fixler.

Fixler says his first priority as Chief, is to meet the men and women that make up the Newton Falls Police Department.

Council fired former police chief John Kuivila in January.
