Victims of domestic violence remembered in Warren

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio -  The Some Place Safe shelter for women and children organized the annual Unity Vigil on Courthouse Square Monday.

For 19 years now, the day has been set aside for victims to take a stand against domestic violence.

Director of Domestic Violence for Some Place Safe, Bonnie Wilson, had advice for anyone who may be approached by the victim of domestic violence.

"Typically when someone is experiencing domestic violence, if they're going to share that information, they'll share it with a close family member or friend. If someone does approach you and tells you that they're experiencing some issue with domestic violence, by all means, listen." said Wilson.

The event serves to remember those who lost their lives, celebrate survivors, and connect with advocates to help end domestic violence
