Investigation uncovers suspected meth lab in Salem neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, Ohio - A seven month investigation by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force has uncovered what authorities believe is an operation to manufacture methamphetamine.

A news release says task force agents and Salem Police searched an apartment at 192 West Pershing Street on Monday.

Inside, authorities say they found chemicals used to produce methamphetamine and evidence of a meth lab.

Other residents of the apartment building were evacuated while the evidence was removed and turned over to a chemical disposal company.

The task force has filed charges of illegal possession of chemicals used to produce methamphetamine.

The residents of the apartment are identified as Christy Schnader and Christopher Neiswonger.

Salem police arrested Neiswonger on a charge of domestic violence.
