LORDSTOWN, Ohio - An aluminum production facility may be expanding its business to the area, meaning more job opportunity for the Valley.

Lordstown is one of the choices for Matalco Inc. to build a new Greenfield Remelt Extrusion Billet Facility. The facility would be a part of the Ohio Commerce Center.

Mayor Arno Hill tells 21 News that a 75 percent tax abatement approved by Lordstown Village Council . The abatement will last ten years.

Hill says the investment would total $70 to $90 million dollars, including buildings and the annual payroll with total $4 million.

The facility would create 60 new jobs for the Valley at the start of its operation.

Hill says the Lordstown location is still competing with an out-of-state site, which he could not confirm.

According to a release, senior management of Matalco will make a decision as to the final site selection in the coming weeks.
