Posted: Updated:

SANDY LAKE, Pa. - A Mercer woman is dead after her car crashed in Sandy Lake early Thursday.

A report from Pennsylvania State Police says that 21-year-old Amanda Jones of Mercer, died after being ejected from her vehicle after it crashed on North Main Street in Sandy Lake Borough, around 2:00 a.m.

According to a report, Jones was driving at a high rate of speed when her BMW coupe went off the road, first crashing into a tree and then striking a stone wall before resting in the front yard of a Jud's Beauty Shop.

Police do not have an exact cause of death but believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. They also say that there appeared to be no signs that Jones tried to apply the car's brakes to prevent the crash.
