Warren man found guilty of murdering parents in 2011

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - After approximately an hour of deliberations, the jury in the trial of Louis Mann found him guilty on all three counts and their specifications.

Mann is convicted of strangling his mother Francis with a clothesline, and shooting his father Phillip and then beating him in the head in their Jefferson Street home.

Counts one and two pertained to those murder charges, and count three was for the aggravated robbery charge. Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker reviewed the case with jurors earlier in the afternoon.

"It was intentional. It was very purposeful. The marks across her chin where he probably had her first and she fought with him," he said. Becker also told us that within six hours of their deaths, Mann withdrew $1400.

Meanwhile, defense attorneys are laying out the foundation for the mitigation phase, with the hopes it can convince the jury to recommend a life sentence over the death penalty.

Mann's sentencing phase is scheduled for October 24 at 9 a.m. Testimony will take place during the sentencing, and a jury will be present.
