Groom arrested immediately after wedding in NE Pa.

Posted: Updated:

KINGSTON, Pa. (AP) - A groom getting married in northeastern Pennsylvania was arrested in front of his new wife just after they said "I do."

Authorities say 24-year-old Delroy Toomer was arrested Friday at the office of District Judge Paul Roberts in Kingston, Luzerne County, immediately after the judge married Toomer to his bride, 26-year-old Angelic Yard.

Toomer had been wanted since July for allegedly threatening to kill his former girlfriend, who is the mother of his young child.

Court clerks discovered that the groom was a wanted man when they were filing the marriage license on a computer.

Instead of a honeymoon, Toomer was taken to the county prison and charged with harassment and making terroristic threats.
