Posted: Updated:

NILES, Ohio - Niles police are investigating conflicting reports, as to how a local teenager suffered severe head injuries while riding a stolen motorcycle.

Police say the rider, 18-year old Tim Malcomson, was injured when the bike struck a tree while he was being chased by the owners of the bike on an abandoned road off Summit Avenue in Niles.

"One side of it is the owners of the motorcycle and his friends hit the person in the back of the head with a tire iron and caused the wreck and of course the people that own the motorcycle that were chasing him to try to get their motorcycle back say he just lost control went into a tree and fell down into the ravine." said Capt. Ken Criswell, Chief of Detectives, Niles Police.

Police have inspected the crash scene, and plan to conduct more interviews, as they attempt to determine exactly what happened. No charges have been filed.
