Car slams into pole on Youngstown's south side

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Police are investigating an accident on the city's south side that sent the driver to the hospital.

A witness tells police that the Pontiac Sunfire veered off Southern Boulevard and struck a pole near East Philadelphia Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.

She was taken to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. There's no word on her name or condition.
