Ohio teen accused of trying to kill parents

Posted: Updated:

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - A 16-year-old Ohio boy has been accused of trying to kill his parents after authorities say he set his house on fire while they were inside.

Butler County sheriff's deputies say they responded to a fire late Wednesday night to find that a 56-year-old man had jumped out of the second story of his burning home in Liberty Township.

Crews helped his 50-year-old wife escape.

They were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say soon after, they found the couple's 16-year-old son nearby and a journal with detailed plans on how he was going to kill his parents.

The boy, who The Associated Press is not naming because of his age, is being charged as a juvenile with two counts of aggravated murder and an aggravated arson charge.
