Suspect in Warren gas station murder captured in Texas

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - The manhunt for the suspect in a Warren murder has ended.

The man hunt for 26-year-old Tashawn Walker ended when he was arrested Monday afternoon by the U.S. Marshal's Task Force in Houston, Texas.

Marshal's say Walker, whose nickname is Boo, had a box of ammunition and two firearms, but he was arrested without incident.

Sergeant Jeffrey Cole with the Warren Police Department says Tashawn is the alleged gunman who shot and killed 24-year-old Richard Rollison, IV at a gas station on Saturday.

"Police responded. We conducted an investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Tashawn Walker was responsible for shooting death of Mr. Rollison. We issued warrants for him," Cole said.

Walker's motive for murder is still under investigation.

Warren Township Police Chief Don Bishop says it's possible the 24-year-old victim was present during a fight that erupted at the J&L Bar.

Bishop says the bar was asked to close due to intelligence that led police to believe violence could break out, but the owner opened for a private party. Multiple shots were fired, but no one was hurt.

"We do believe that incident was related or may have been the start of the fatal shooting. So we are working with the township on that," Cole said.

The alleged triggerman, Tashawn, was in town for the funeral of his brother Taemar who was shot by a Warren police officer Saturday one week earlier.

Taemar Walker had two guns on him, according to the state's highest law enforcement agency BCI&I, one of them stolen.

The 24-year-old was also was wearing latex gloves.

One of the bars he frequented, Two Hype, closed Friday and Saturday after being advised there could be violence.

Since that shooting, police have been on a heightened state of alert.

Tashawn will be brought back from Baytown, Texas, where he lives, to face a charge of aggravated murder.
