Mercer courthouse reopens after bomb threat

Posted: Updated:
MERCER, Pa. (AP) - The Mercer County courthouse has reopened after a bomb threat.

Mercer County spokesman Jeffrey Greenburg announced the closure just before 10 a.m. Monday but says that bomb-sniffing dogs found nothing in a sweep of the building. As a result, the courthouse reopened at 1 p.m.

Greenburg did not say whether the threat was received by phone, email or other means, but County Sheriff Gary Hartman plans to release additional details later Monday.

The Blair County courthouse in Hollidaysburg received a similar threat by email on Friday. That was determined to be a hoax. That courthouse is located about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh.
