Allegiant begins new Florida flights from Youngstown

Posted: Updated:

VIENNA, Ohio -If the upcoming cooler temperatures have you thinking about escaping to a beach in Florida, Allegiant Air is now offering another non-stop flight from Youngstown to the sunshine state

One hundred and forty-six passengers were booked on the first Allegiant flight to the Fort Myers area of Southwest Florida Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say this moves the local airport one step closer to daily non-stop jet service.

"We have Orlando-Sanford, we haver St. Petersburg-Clearwater, we have Mytle Beach and now we have Fort Myers-Punta Gorda," said Airport Director of Aviation, Dan Dickten.

The new flights will operate twice weekly from Youngstown. Allegiant also is offering savings on hotel rooms and car rentals that are booked through the airline.

Dickten says negotiations are continuing to add more Allegiant destinations in the future, including Orlando and possibly Chicago and Las Vegas.
