ERIE, Pa. (AP) - Former Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper has resurrected her political career, winning the election for Erie County executive.
The 55-year-old Dahlkemper defeated incumbent Barry Grossman in the Democratic primary in May before beating Republican Don Tucci 57 percent to 43 percent in Tuesday's general election. Pennsylvania's northwestern-most county is heavily Democratic.
Dahlkemper was elected to Congress in 2008, but lost Pennsylvania's 3rd District Seat to Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, of Butler, in 2010.(backslash)
Grossman was seeking a second four-year term before losing to Dahlkemper, who entered the race in March.
She becomes the county's first female executive since Judy Lynch, also a Democrat, who served from 1982 to 2002.
