Relative claims she asked Sharon hospital not to release stabbing suspect

SHARON, Pa. - A family member of a man charged with attempted murder, after stabbing a Sharon Regional Health System employee Sunday, says the suspect not only has a drug problem, but a severe psychiatric history, that she says the hospital was aware of.

Linda Clark, a greeter in the emergency room, was stabbed in the neck, and remains in critical condition as of Monday.

Police say the victim was stabbed by 30-year-old Justin Michael Delfratte of Sharpsville.

The attack happened after the emergency department, refused to give him narcotic pain medications.

The relative who did not want to be identified, says Delfratte was involuntarily committed to the Sharon Regional psychiatric ward September 8th, after attempting to take his own life.

She says she begged the hospital not to release him, and even threatened to sue if they did. Due to patient confidentiality, the hospital can not confirm or deny the information.
