Walmart and Target reveal Thanksgiving shopping hours

Posted: Updated:

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Walmart has jumped on the holiday shopping bandwagon and added more Thanksgiving store hours.

According to the print ad released online Tuesday, Walmart stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, two hours earlier than last year's 8 p.m. turkey day opening.

The ad does not mention the word "Thanksgiving", but merely states that the store will be open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 28.

On Monday, Target previewed its holiday advertisement, which says the department store chain's Black Friday sales will start at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.

Target joins Macy's, Kohl's, Sears and J.C. Penney which announced earlier that they would open at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Toys"R"US says that it's stores nationwide will open at 5:00 P.M. on the day before Black Friday.

Last year, the toy retailer opened it's doors at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and company officials said the response from consumers was overwhelmingly positive.

Kmart plans a 41-hour shopping blitz from 6:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning through 10:00 p.m. on Black Friday.
