Inspection gives Girard schools the all-clear

Posted: Updated:

GIRARD, Ohio - Girard Junior and Senior High School has been given the all-clear to resume classes on Monday.

There were no classes Friday to allow for a complete inspection of the building to try and determine the source of a bad odor that caused the school to be evacuated Wednesday and Thursday.

Superintendent David Cappuzzello said the gas company inspected and tested every gas line, the appliances and the boiler, and detected nothing out of the ordinary.

Cappuzzello said a check of the classrooms and the area where the smell was first detected on Wednesday also proved to be negative for any odor.

A Lego competition at the school will go on as scheduled on Saturday, and classes will resume on Monday.
