Classes resume at Girard Junior and Senior High School

Posted: Updated:

GIRARD, Ohio - Classes resumed Monday for Girard Junior and Senior High school students.

Superintendent David Cappuzzello confirmed with 21 News Monday morning that students are back in school, and no smell has been detected throughout the past few days.

Cappuzzello also said that the heat has been on and working all morning.

There were no classes Friday to allow for a complete inspection of the building to try and determine the source of a bad odor that caused the school to be evacuated Wednesday and Thursday.

Cappuzzello said the gas company inspected and tested every gas line, the appliances and the boiler, and detected nothing out of the ordinary.

Cappuzzello also said a check of the classrooms and the area where the smell was first detected on Wednesday also proved to be negative for any odor.

The all-clear to resume Monday classes was given on Friday after the inspections were completed.
