Austintown Middle School students raise money for cancer research

Posted: Updated:

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Austintown Middle School students raised $1,300 to help people fighting a deadly disease.

Classroom learning focused on cancer causes and treatments for the second annual Jimmy V Day.

Students bought t-shirts and donated half of the proceeds to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

The foundation is named after college basketball coach Jimmy Valvano. Valvano died in 1993 of cancer just weeks after giving a speech at the ESPY Awards.
