Program to end violence coming to Warren

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A program aimed at decreasing violent crime is already showing results in Youngstown and now it's coming to Warren.

Coordinators of the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence were on WFMJ Weekend Today Sunday morning to talk about the program.

"I believe every neighborhood, every area, every city, has its own set of situations. But I do believe that the model that's already been set forth will work in Warren," said Rev. Willie Peterson, pastor of the NewBirth Kimmelbrook Baptist Church in Youngstown.

The CIRV program focuses on reaching out to those who find themselves in a violent lifestyle, as well as teaching youth about peaceful conflict resolution.
