Lordstown prepares Christmas meals

Posted: Updated:

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Volunteers from the local schools, police department, and community spent their Sunday morning in the spirit of giving.

They packed canned vegetables, soups, stew and other non perishable food items to give to 23 families in Lordstown.

Sgt.  Michele Mercer tells us the names of families in need were given to the police department from local schools and anonymous callers.

She adds that the people and families will receive, not only enough for a complete Christmas dinner but also, food to help them through the month.

Mercer tells us boxes include turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy mixes, pies, milk, eggs, canned goods, and paper products.

Sgt. Mercer thanked everyone who helped, and made donations to make the department's food give away a success. The food will be distributed on Thursday.
