Measles making a resurgence

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A disease once believed to be all but eradicated in the United States has been making a resurgence in recent years.

Dr. John Venglarcik from the Mahoning county board of health visited WFMJ Weekend Today to talk about how international travel has contributed to the increased number of cases and what you need to know.

"So first of all, make sure you know where you're going, second of all, make sure you're immunized correctly for the community that you're travelling in and third of all, if you come back and have any kind of illness that seems out of the ordinary, visit your physician as soon as possible after you've come from abroad," Venglarcik said.

He said if you have any questions about what vaccines you need when travelling, visit CDC.gov and click the "travel" icon for guidelines.
