Champagne sales flat in the Valley

Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - As the Valley prepares to ring in the New Year, sales of one midnight tradition aren't what they used to be.

Phil Reda, owner of Vintage Estates in Boardman, tells 21 News sales of champagne have remained flat over the past few years.

"We definitely have noticed a decline over two, three years ago when people were coming in and buying it by the cases. Now it's a bottle here a bottle there. There are some that are solid movers and have a specific clientele like, for example, your higher end champagnes," Reda said.

Many people opt for the lower cost sparkling wines for their New Year's toast.
