Former Mercer County teacher loses appeal on sexting sentence

Posted: Updated:

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A former Mercer County school teacher, has lost a challenge to his prison sentence for sexting students.

Pennsylvania Superior Court has denied an appeal filed by Kevin DeFrancesco, contesting his sentence of  two to eight years in prison.

The former Jamestown Middle School teacher was sentenced after pleading guilty to unlawful contact with a minor and sexual abuse of children.

Authorities say DeFrancesco admitted exchanging nude photographs with 14-year-old girl, and asking a 13-year-old girl to send him nude photographs of herself.

Although DeFrancesco claimed that the sentence was excessive, the Superior Court agreed that the seriousness of the crimes required the trial court to impose the sentence.
