Girls testify in northeast Ohio rape trial

Posted: Updated:

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Two young girls have described for jurors in a northeast Ohio courtroom how a 31-year-old man sexually abused them.

The testimony came Tuesday in the Akron trial of Clayton A. George, who is accused of raping the sisters, ages 7 and 10.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that the sisters - with a specially trained service dog in court to help calm them - testified that George abused them in late summer 2011. George was in the courtroom, and both girls identified him as the perpetrator.

George, who is charged with two counts of rape, has pleaded not guilty. His attorney said he will present an expert to testify about the pattern of what he called "false memory," particularly in children who are eager to please each other.
