NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Charity Golf Association (CGA) today announced its partnership with preeminent sports agent Leigh Steinberg.

Steinberg's long-standing relationships, coupled with his focus on philanthropy and community goodwill, has been a hallmark of his 40-year career. A sports business guru, author, and sought-after speaker, Steinberg has lectured on the business of sports, entertainment and the art of negotiation around the world. Steinberg's vision, to use the power of sports to make the world a better place, is strategically and philosophically aligned with the mission of the CGA.

Steinberg is reestablishing his leadership position in the sports management arena with the launch of his new company, Steinberg Sports & Entertainment, based in Newport Beach. He will be taking both an investor and advisory board member position with the CGA.

Steinberg's achievements in sports representation and contributions to humanitarian causes include setting the standard for professional athletes to serve as positive role models who give back to their communities. His influence and activism has resulted in more than $800 million donated to hundreds of charities and scholarships nationwide.

The CGA, a sustainable giving organization (SGO) that simplifies corporate social responsibility (CSR), raises significant funds for non-profits through an interactive membership program that involves celebrity players, business leaders and community influencers. The CGA is able to grant a 360-degree fundraising platform, all without the operating costs, to the beneficiary non-profit.

The CGA charity tour will be the first of its kind to magnify contributions by making event grants possible through their turnkey tournament operations. A nationwide tour schedule is expected to be announced by mid-summer.

"Teaming up with Leigh Steinberg, one of the foremost authorities in sports-related charitable giving, provides us with world-class expertise that will greatly benefit our local charity partners," explains CGA CEO, Ken Hubbard, "He brings tremendous charisma, influence and passion to each cause he supports and we're lucky to have him on our side."

Steinberg, who has represented over 150 professional athletes in football, baseball, basketball, boxing, and Olympic sports, represented the No. 1 pick overall in the NFL draft a record eight times, a milestone unmatched by anyone else in the sports industry.

His client list has included Steve Bartkowski, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Kordell Stewart, Jeff George, Ben Roethlisberger, Myron Rolle, Matt Leinart, Mark Brunell, Ricky Williams, Howie Long, Eric Karros, Dusty Baker, Lennox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya, and John Starks.

Steinberg will be participating in the CGA inaugural charity tour season with Powerbilt Golf beginning with the Powerbilt Air Force One Charity Golf Tour to be held in April 2014.
