CANFIELD, Ohio - A Youngstown man who is charged with raping a Canfield teenager tells police the believed that the girl was possessed by a demon.

Canfield Police filed the rape charge against 29-year-old Timothy Hancher of Belle Vista Avenue on Tuesday.

Hancher told investigating officers that the sixteen year old consented to having sexual relations with him at the girl's Canfield home last Wednesday.

Hancher, who says he is enrolled in the YSU Master degree biology program at YSU, told police that the two decided to have sex to help the girl overcome her fears and because she was possessed by a demon.  Hancher attributed the belief of demonic possession to the fact that he had not taken his medication for an illness, the nature of which has been redacted from the police report.

The suspect told police that his wife, who is pregnant with their fourth child, had left him.

According to the report, when the mother of the alleged victim told police that her daughter told her that she was forced to have sex with Hancher, or he would kill himself.

Hancher is expected to appear later before a judge in Canfield to answer the charges.
