City of Warren expands tax incentive program

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - The city of Warren is expanding its tax incentive program to businesses outside of the city.

On Wednesday night, council approved, on emergency passage, to amend a current ordinance that would allow tax abatements to new businesses that develop in the city.

Now council is extending that opportunity to businesses that already exist that wish to move into the city.

"If they add new employees based on a formula, or investment in materials or machinery or anything like that, that formula is based on the taxes that the employees pay, but it benefits the business," said Vince Flask, 5th Ward Warren Councilman.

The tax incentive goes into effect immediately.
