Newton Falls asking voters for income tax increase

Posted: Updated:

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Voters in Newton Falls will see a measure on the May ballot that would increase the city income tax by one-half-percent.

Council passed an emergency ordinance Monday night seeking the tax, which if passed would generate $325,000 dollars that would be divided between the general and capital funds.

Money would also be distributed to the road department and the park and recreation fund.

If voters approve, the income tax would be raised to 1.5 percent.
