Bad weather affects emergency responders as well

Posted: Updated:

WEATHERSFIELD TWP., Ohio - In the snow and sleet, emergency vehicles must also slow down.

Lane Life Trans put out a reminder this morning to its first responders that contract times to reach a scene are weather permitting.

COO Randall Pugh, who also wears a second hat as Weathersfield's volunteer fire chief, says common sense must be used when responding.

"We're not going to put out any fire unless we arrive. We're not going to save any lives unless we arrive. We have to respond in accordance with the weather and today is not the time to try and put the speed on any vehicles," Pugh said.

Other ambulance companies, fire and police departments echoed the same about slowing down due to road conditions.
