Austintown coach facing charges

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - An Austintown Middle School coach is arrested on charges of  domestic violence, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and operating a vehicle under the influence.

25-year-old Matthew Kuti was arrested on Saturday after witnesses told police they saw him engaged in a physical dispute with his girlfriend in front of the First Place Bank on Market Street.

Hillary Stack told Boardman Police that Kuti pushed her onto the bank steps and punched her in the face. Police observed blood coming from Stack's mouth, and said her lip, eye and cheek were swollen.

Police say they surrounded Kuti's Helena Avenue home after he locked himself inside. Police forced their way inside, and handcuffed Kuti.

Austintown School officials say that Kuti's had a contract a wrestling coach at Austintown Middle School this year, but the season has ended. He is not a teacher at the school.

Kuti is free on bond following his arraignment. He has another hearing scheduled for March 3.
