Ohio man sentenced to life for raping sisters

Posted: Updated:

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man has been sentenced to life without possibility of parole for raping two young sisters who testified against him during his trial.

The judge in Akron sentenced Clayton George to consecutive life sentences Monday following his conviction last month of raping the two girls, now ages 7 and 10. Both testified during the trial, describing the abuse and identifying the 31-year-old George as the perpetrator.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that the girls' grandmother spoke in court before the sentencing, calling George "despicable" for what he did to them and what he put them through by taking the case to trial.

The girls testified with the help of a service dog specially trained to work with emotionally traumatized victims in such cases.

George plans to appeal.
