WARREN, Ohio  - 130 Soldiers from the Ohio National Guard 838th Military Police Company come home to the valley tonight following a ten month deployment to Afghanistan.

The unit provided 24-hour-a-day critical site security and force protection operations at various locations throughout Afghanistan. During their deployment, unit Soldiers successfully processed more than 75,000 vehicles through numerous military installation access control points they manned, without incident.

The unit's mission in Afghanistan also included supporting detainee operations and transport, conducting more than 150 combat convoys and providing security details for civilian contractors and staff.

The troops will be welcomed home at 11:15 p.m. at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren, Ohio.

Due to the unit's late arrival Friday evening from its demobilization station, a formal welcome home ceremony will not be conducted. Soldiers will arrive at the venue on commercial buses and disembark to meet awaiting family members and friends.
