YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A 24-year-old Poland Village man faces charges following accusations that he picked up a 14-year old girl, smoked pot with her and then had unprotected sex.

Duriing his arraignment in Mahoning County  Court on Wednesday, Matthew Slaven pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, sexual battery and corrupting  another person with drugs.

According to a report from village police, the mother of the teen discovered the incident last June when she viewed her daughter's text messages.

The teen told police that she met Slaven on Facebook and told him she was fifteen years old.

According to the girl, Slaven picked her up as she was walking around her neighborhood between midnight and 1 a.m.  Slaven allegedly took the girl back to his Main Street home where the two smoked marijuana and had sexual intercourse.

The teen told the  investigating officer that she did not attempt to yell or scream, but  says she was under the  influence of marijuana at the time.

Slaven is free on $25,000 bond awaiting a future court hearing.
