Niles truck driver charged for deadly crash

Posted: Updated:

CANTON, Ohio - A Trumbull County man is charged in connection with a two vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Stark County woman.

The Ohio Highway Patrol arrested 57-year-old Michael Sudano, Jr. of Niles on Tuesday on charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter.

Troopers say Sudano was driving a dump truck on state Route 44 that turned into the path of a small car occupied by a Waynesburg, Ohio couple this past January.

Thirty-seven-year-old Paula Haas Jeffers, who was a passenger in the car, died in the crash.

Jeffers was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the car was not seriously injured.

Sudano was booked into the Stark County Jail, but is free on $100 bond.
