W. Pa. hunter charged in friend's accidental death

Posted: Updated:

SIDMAN, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania hunter has been charged with accidentally shooting another member of his hunting party, who was killed.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 29-year-old Matthew Nadolsky, of Windber, whose telephone number is not listed.

The Altoona Mirror reports the Pennsylvania Game Commission filed the charge Monday. The misdemeanor, which carries up to 18 months in jail, a $10,000 fine and loss of hunting privileges for up to 15 years, is the most serious charge the commission is empowered to file.

Investigators say Nadolsky and the victim, 42-year-old Timothy Bruce, of Asheville, were guiding deer toward other hunters when one animal doubled back toward them. Nadolsky allegedly fired two shots at the deer, one of which killed Bruce on Dec. 7 in Adams Township, Cambria County.

Nadolsky faces a preliminary hearing March 19.
