LORDSTOWN, Ohio - One man was injured while he was working outside the General Motors plant on Wednesday.

First responders were called to what was described as a "crushing injury" at the west complex of the GM plant just after 11 a.m.

Authorities tell 21 News that the victim was taken to the trauma unit of Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

GM plant spokesman Tom Mock describes the victim as an employee of a contractor who is dismantling an obsolete press outside the plant.

Mock says that work on the site has been suspended pending investigation of the incident and GM is cooperating fully.

The name or condition of the victim has not been released.
