Niles man scratches off lucky lottery ticket

Posted: Updated:

Niles, Ohio -  It was really a Fat Tuesday for Niles resident Matthew Jones.

The Ohio Lottery Commission says Jones won big after scratching a 40th Anniversary Millions instant game ticket.

Since Jones chose the cash option, Lottery officials say he'll receive a lump sum of $355,000 after federal and state taxes totaling 29 percent.

Otherwise, the second-tier annuity prize would have paid $40,000 a year for 25 years.

Jones purchased the ticket from Red Dragon Convenient, 505 N. Main in Niles.
