Neighbor helps save woman from Youngstown house fire

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown firefighters say a neighbor helped rescue a woman from her burning north side home Thursday morning .

Flames were reported inside a garage at this home at Griffith Street and Fairmont Avenue just after 5:00 a.m.

When crews arrived on the scene, they say the fire had spread from the garage to the house.

A second alarm was called in twenty minutes after the initial call because fire crews say slippery conditions were making their job difficult.

A neighbor broke a window to help the woman living in the home get to safety.

Firefighters describe damage to the home as a total loss, but no one was injured.
