Groups urge common approach to taxing oil and gas drilling

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Policy and research groups from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, are urging governors to take a common approach to taxing gas and oil drilling in the Marcellus and Utica Shale regions.

State Representative Bob Hagan proposes a seven-and-a-half percent tax that would be reinvested in the community.

Hagan wants five percent distributed to areas that have significant horizontal drilling.
