NBC plans to air interview with Dottie Sandusky

Posted: Updated:

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - NBC's "Today" show is about to air an interview with Jerry Sandusky's wife that was recently recorded at her home in State College.

The network said it would broadcast the segment that Matt Lauer taped with Dottie Sandusky on Wednesday morning.

In excerpts posted online by NBC, Dottie Sandusky defends her husband, saying she's sure he didn't "do the horrible crimes that he's convicted of."

Jerry Sandusky is serving a 30- to 60-year sentence in a southwestern Pennsylvania prison. He's maintained his innocence and is awaiting word by the state Supreme Court about whether it'll take his case on appeal.

Dottie Sandusky testified for about 40 minutes for the defense during the 2012 trial that ended in a 45-count conviction.
