Police discover suspected meth lab in Newton Falls

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Police discovered a suspected meth lab in Newton Falls.

Police say they got a tip Tuesday morning that someone was making meth inside a garage at 314 Ophelia Street.

When investigators arrived, they found chemicals used in the meth-making process in plain view.

Hours later, Hazmat crews were busy cleaning up the chemicals.

The suspected meth will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations to confirm whether it is the illegal drug. If it is, charges will be filed.

"It doesn't take much to set up a meth lab. It's an epidemic. It's dangerous and it's our job to address it. We get information and we address it and in this case here we took it down," said Newton Falls Police Chief Gene Fixler.

Police say the suspect appeared to be cooking meth in pop bottles.
