Former federal judge throws his support behind Jim Tressel for YSU president

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A retired federal court judge has thrown his support behind former Youngstown State and Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel for YSU's next president.

21 News spoke with retired judge Nathaniel Jones who signed the YSU Foundation letter endorsing Tressel.

"I've been an admirer of Mr. Tressel, because, to me, he was more than a football coach. He was a humanitarian who understood human beings, human frailties, and did what he could always to help people improve themselves and he was not judgmental," Jones said.

Tressel has not yet applied for the position, but Jones feels the search committee should reach out to Tressel.
